After months of searching we are happy to introduce the newest member of the Little Creek team.
Caution, she has great curves and may cause lustful feelings.
She is a perfect combination of form and function. Designed by one of the greats of Maine Downeast boats, Royal Lowell.
For a great history of the Lowell family and Maine boatbuilding take a look at Royal's nephews. The latest generation of Lowells building boats in Maine. http://www.lowellbrothers.com/history.htm
Built to work. And work she has. Up until recently this boat has been working hard in a pound net fishery right here in Peconic Bay. Battle scarred but ready for a new mission.
Specs: Make: Sisu 26 Designer: Royal Lowell Built: 1984
We spent the past few days removing debris and funk from the boat. Several large contractor bags of gunk and a few hours of concerted elbow (de)-grease(r) and we are starting to see the light. There are, of course, a list of projects to get her back into prime shape.
She is a representation of the true spirit of everything we are going for. Opening our eyes to all the resources around us, making good things useful, and acknowledging the iconic heart of a working waterfront. Old, meet new.
A team can take only so much scrubbing when the weather is beautiful. On a crisp cool day, wind starting to pick up on the bay. We took her out for a shakedown run.
We look forward to sharing the water with you on a farm tour sometime.
Note: This post would absolutely not be possible without the support of our Kickstarter backers. For those of you reading this who backed us, thank you again for your support.
